( this is one big map )
*NOTE: when large sections of the map are still marked red, the mystical energies of the land make it possible for characters to somehow magically jump from one open territory to the next. It's as though they walk through an invisible barrier and are suddenly dozens of miles further than they expected. For example, traveling from Ueda castle to the Main Camp will mysteriously jump over the closed Si Province in an instant. Why? Mystical world, that's why. Characters are free to notice that the landscape may look different in the blink of an eye, or that distances seem to change depending on the route they take.
This post will also be used to update information on open territories, or other relevant event information, as time goes on. Information will be archived here.

Additional Locations Information
Feb. 24th, 2013 11:31 pmWhen characters from canons not related to the Warriors Orochi franchise arrive in Orochi's dimension, they bring with them a small piece of their home worlds. These pieces can be as small as a single building on up to a maximum of five square miles. The new territories are placed at the worldbuild team's discretion, and may either be in the middle of the map, on the edge of the dimension to increase its size, or melded into an existing territory.
Only the first character from a given canon is able to suggest the size and makeup of their home territory, using the form located here. The larger a cast, the more likely they can suggest additions or alterations to their native territory, at the same page.
This page serves as a directory of the "new" canon territories added to the Orochi dimension through player involvement. The information in this directory is considered game canon, superceding anything requested via the forms on the New Canon Request page.
For additional information on the base setting of the Orochi dimension (the Dynasty/Samurai Warriors lands), you want this page. For information on the Main Camp and other miscellaneous setting info, that would be here. The map of all territories is here too!

Suggestions and Complaints
Jan. 29th, 2013 10:04 pm
We are always interested in improving the game! If you have any ideas for how we can adjust or improve gameplay you can send us an email at octamodsatgmail.com or just post below. Please suggest any wanted game events as well! The more detailed your event suggestion, the more likely we will use it. We may need to make modifications in order to properly implement the event into the game setting, but will always discuss it with you. If you do not hear a response from a moderator within 48 hours, feel free to ping us.
If there is a complaint about the conduct of a mod or player, please do not comment in this post. Instead, we ask that you send it to the mod email (octamodsatgmail.com) so that we may keep your complaint private. We ask that complaints not be anonymous, as we may need to discuss and gather more information, and encourage anyone with concerns to bring them to us so we can try to address it. Actions toward complaints will be made at moderator discretion. We do not tolerate harassment, but also want to make sure we are looking at disputes from all angles. Typically, players will receive a warning for most things first, however the severity and seriousness of the complaint will determine the appropriate (if any) punishment. Bans may be used in very severe situations and can be considered permanent or temporary, depending on the nature of the concern (i.e., IC actions are usually different than OOC harassment). |
Death Guidelines/Canon Update Form
Jan. 29th, 2013 09:52 pmIn Octacore, death is permanent. There is, unfortunately, no way to change that. ....Or is there? Typically, when your character dies, for all intents and purposes you have dropped the character, and they will remain dead in-universe until they are re-applied for. A character who has died cannot be applied for again until a two week period has passed. This is to make sure there is enough time for IC reactions, as your character will be assumed to be either missing or dead. There is a 3-day grace period after dropping to change your mind. People found abusing this feature to get around the consequences of characters dying in the game may receive punishment. Dropping the character (through death or otherwise) means you lose all claim to them. Anyone may reapp this character once your drop is official and the grace period is over. You may reserve and re-app that character, but others may also challenge your application. Rarely, there may be events where the mods lift the death rule to allow massive casualties. People who opt into such events will not have to pay any penalties other than any described in the event. If you wish for your character to die for plot purposes, but don't want to risk losing control of them you may purchase a death token from the barter system. These tokens are mod permission for a death plot, but you still need to make sure all other pieces are in place to use it:
Here's the form for easy copy/paste. Please send it to the mod account at octamodsatgmail.com. At times you may want to "update" a character to a more recent point in their canon. While you can't currently move them backwards, canon updates are allowed. To prevent abuse of this system, there is a one week period in which your character is missing while they're "living" their update. You update must be approved before changes can be made. Note: If your update requires canon switching, such as between mediums or to other version of the story where character backgrounds, histories or even personalities may differ, we may require you to fill out a whole app form for review. In these instances, your character will not be free for others to apply for. In the event of vastly different personalities and memories, it may be decided the change is too big, and a character may need to be reapped fresh for the change to apply.
Submit either of these two forms to octamodsatgmail.com. |

New Canons Page
Jan. 29th, 2013 09:50 pmNow that you're in the game, your character may have brought a chunk of the world in with them. If you are the first player from your canon, you will get to decide what came in with you. If there are several characters already, we will consider adding additional zones from your canon in the future. Please contact the mods if you'd like to request an extra zone.
Note: New zones are not available to explore immediately, and there will be game announcements when new zones are no longer cut off from the Main Camp. Mods need time to review the information provided, as well as make any changes we think need to be made in order to keep areas inline with the rest of the game.
Please fill out the form below to let us know about the chunk of home you'd like your character to bring with them.
Name: A name for the area you are bringing in, if it has one. (The Outlaw Star, The Ramen Shop, The Trojan Horse, Drum Island)
Canon: The canon the area comes from.
Size: How big it is. If you are familiar with Koei's Warriors games, we would like these zones to be similiar in size as the battlefield maps. While there is no hard limit, we ask that you don't bring entire cities, but just a few city blocks. When possible, consider going small instead of big. This can always be expanded later. The max size is 5 square miles.
General Description: Is it a city? A small village? Open field? Heavily forested? Give us a basic description of what is there.
Tech Level: Is there electricity? Plumbing? Internet? Vehicles?
Magic Elements: Is there anything magical about the place? Curses?
Flora/Fauna: What kinds of animals are there? Plants and trees? Anything unique?
Links: If there are images of the location, please link them here.
Requests: Is there anything relevant to this zone that you would like to include. Is it December at your canon point? Add Christmas decorations! Is that a tentacle monster in the lake? Let us know! We will need to clear anything you would like added, but remember that it should be relevant to the zone. Something one may expect to find there.

Permanent AC Page
Jan. 11th, 2013 01:23 amUpon being accepted into the game, you are to make a comment to this post with the following subject line:
Character Name (Fandom) - journalname
The comment may be blank, or you may include a link to further information about your character - this space can be used anyway you desire.
Each month, you will make a new comment in response to your character's thread. The subject line for this comment will be:
Month Year (Ex: January 2013)
In the body of this comment, you will link your activity for the month and a link to your hiatus comment if you have made one. You may post this comment any time during the month and edit it as often as you like. You should have your activity posted by the end of the month. A week before the month ends, the mods will make an AC announcement post with a list of everyone who has not posted their AC as a reminder. On the first day of the next month, the sweep list will be posted and journals will be removed. You have three days after journal removal to contact the mods or your character is officially "Missing in Action" and will be treated in game as such.
If you find yourself removed on error, or would like to ask for an exception, please contact the mods.
Activity Check requirements are as follows:
Valid activity includes any comments or posts dated from the first day of the month until the last day of the month, even if the thread started the previous month. Please link from the first comment made within the correct month!
You must include 2 proofs made up of any combination of the below.
1. A post made by your character. As long as threads aren't promptly abandoned and it demonstrates the player is actively responding to their tags for a reasonable time. If we feel you have not, we may require additional AC. An active post will always count toward AC due to the number of tags a player must make. Any joint posts must have tags from everyone involved in order for everyone to count it toward AC. You may use 2 posts for the full AC.
2. a10 tags in either the network or log comm. Since this is a small number, we request that you keep that number of threads you use in order to make this 10 to be no more than 2. 10 tags is just 1 proof and you need 2 proofs to pass AC.
For example: 5+5 is 10 tags and will be accepted. 3+3+3+1 is also 10 tags, but since it took 4 threads to get there, we may ask you for additional AC if we feel it demonstrates you are dropping your tags. You will not be punished, however, if the other player drops the tag on you.
You may combine both network and log tags for a single proof. If your AC is made up entirely from tags, you will need 20 comments total, and we would prefer it being across no more than 4 threads, but we will always try to use our best judgement in this case, especially when it comes to dropped threads. You cannot use a single thread for both proofs, whether it is 20 tags or 50 tags long. We require at least two different proofs for the AC in order to demonstrate an effort was made.
Please review the Barter System to see possible AC rewards.

Rules Page
Jan. 11th, 2013 12:41 amGeneral/Common Sense Rules
1. Respect other players. Be sure to get permission from the other player before you involve their character in an event; no godmodding will be tolerated.
2. Be IC with your characters, and IC =/= OOC. If two characters are fighting, that does not mean the players are fighting. The same things should hold true in reverse.
3. If you feel you have a problem with another player that you cannot resolve on your own, please request the mods to mediate. We will not tolerate harassment.
4. Do not break the Fourth Wall without permission. This means do not reference works of fiction to characters who are from said works of fiction unless the character already knows there are stories written about them. Example: Don't tell Guan Suo he's the fictional son of Guan Yu, but Sanzang is familiar with the Journey of the West and that other people know it, so speaking to her of it would be more acceptable. Make sure you have permission first regardless.
5. This is a multifandom game. That means any fandoms may apply. See the app FAQ for specific limitations and requirements. We currently do not accept OCs, but we will be opening up the ability to do so in time. You may app into this game with past RP memories. All fandoms must have an English translation or reference, so we can do the research when judging your app.
6. Players must be 16 in order to apply to this game, and all character journals, if you are below the age of 18, must be made with your actual birth date, as we will be requiring posts to be marked with 18+ content if they contain sexual or heavily violent content. All NC-17 posts will be locked to the community. Characters must be 16 to be involved in sexual content. Players found providing false information to access NC-17 content will be banned.
7. If two characters have significant canon CR they cannot be played by the same person. Anyone lying about their player information to bypass this rule will be banned. We do not outright bar a player from tagging themselves (as we cannot always predict when CR will overlap), but we encourage this to be kept at a minimum. Any thread between two characters played by the same player cannot count toward AC. And anyone abusing our leniency to manipulate other CR may be punished. (Ex: Using two characters to bully a third into doing something they shouldn't, which might force a player to play OOC to circumvent.)
8. Hiatuses must be announced on the official hiatus page in order to be valid. A post in the OOC community does not count toward a valid hiatus without special circumstances. We require that all players post their own hiatus, but we will grant exceptions provided there are special circumstances (loss of power, etc).
9. Activity checks will be determined based on the pace of the game, but will likely involve two proofs per month. A permanent AC page has been set up for keeping track of your activity, and it is up to the player to make sure they have listed enough activity before the monthly check on the 1st of the next month.
Setting Specific Rules
1. All events will have set guidelines to follow. Anyone abusing those guidelines may be penalized.
2. NPCs in the main camp are protected by the guards and cannot be killed or maimed without mod permission, as these NPCs serve specific purposes for the game. Nameless soldiers are free game, and they can be found all over the landscape. Animals can also be hunted for food. Exceptionally large animals or raid level bosses are not to be engaged outside of an event without prior mod approval. This includes any monsters brought into the setting by characters bringing bits of their canon in. If you are uncertain if you need mod permission, ask anyway.
3. Follow the World Building guidelines as to what is available in different zones. Players abusing the world building system to acquire items that "may have been" available to gain specific advantages may be penalized. If you are uncertain if an item is allowed, ask the mods.
4. Powers are allowed in-game, but some powers may be limited. If your powers are limited, you will be notified in your application. At the moment, we only intend to limit world-breaking abilities. If your character's powers interfere with another player's control of this character (possession, mind reading, etc), you must obtain permission from the other player to use them. On the reverse side, any player using their character to harass another character and intentionally avoiding IC consequences may be penalized as well. (Don't intentionally piss off Vegeta if you don't want a Final Flash to the face and then deny the Vegeta player the right to deliver it. IC actions will have IC consequences, and permission goes both ways. )
5. Characters without special powers may earn them through events, and may acquire weapon skills from NPCs or other players by joining up with a faction. (Example: The Takeda may provide cavalry training to all who join them.)
6. We are currently devising an award system to reward active players for their extra participation. You will be awarded coins for making double AC, and you will be able to use those coins to make OOC purchases. Purchases will include granting your character powers, lifting a lock on a current power (within reason), or even additional character slots.
7. There are no Private settings on the in-game network. If you need something private your character will have to send a written letter by courier or speak face-to-face. Everyone should have an OOC inbox on their journals for letters, but ICly, the courier will just be running up and handing it to them.
